Tom McFarlane

Thomas Miles McFarlane

Tom McFarlane was born in August 1947 and grew up in Oak Park, Illinois.  He graduated from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio with a BFA in Printmaking.  He taught photography at Sycamore High School in Cincinnati. He married and raised two sons on Observatory Avenue in Hyde Park.

In addition to his talent as a photographer, Tom was also an amazing pointillism artist and self-taught 12-string guitar player.  He entertained... singing and playing Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Steve Goodman, and many other folk artists' songs... note for note and word for word!

In 2002, after a 25-year hiatus, Tom bought a digital camera and renewed his passion for photography... sans the darkroom and film!  The accessibility of digital imaging captured his imagination, magical eye for light, and sense of humor.  His body of work blossomed in 2003 with a Second Place Award in Photography at Summerfair in Cincinnati.  His award-winning images have been exhibited in juried exhibitions, group shows, solo exhibitions, and published in B&W Magazine and Camera Arts Magazine.  His photography could be found at the Pendleton Art Center and 5th Street Gallery in downtown Cincinnati as well.

Now, years after his sudden passing in 2008, Tom's images once again will be available for purchase through upcoming exhibits, at Pop Revolution Gallery in Mason, Ohio.
